TORONTO, ON – September 18, 2019 – You live for adventure – your truck should too. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma is powerful, capable, and ready to commit Acts of Truck – with a range of cab and bed combinations and trim levels that make it easy to find the perfect pickup partner. The third-generation Tacoma, with a design inspired by Toyota’s legendary desert race trucks, veritably defines the “work hard, play hard” ethos.

“The Toyota Tacoma is the truck with a global reputation for adventure – the product of more than 80 years of designing and building trucks designed to conquer anything the terrain and the weather can throw at it,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “The adventure starts now, with 16 models across three body configurations and multiple trim levels – all ready to keep up with active Canadians who demand 110% from their truck.”

Freedom and adventure start with power and performance, and the Tacoma delivers plenty of both. Every model features Toyota’s powerful and proven 3.5L V6 engine, able to generate up to 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. This is mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic super electronically controlled transmission with lock-up torque converter.

All 2020 Tacoma models feature one-demand one-touch 4×4 systems with an auto limited slip rear differential, two-speed transfer case and automatic disconnecting differential. And because performance while towing or negotiating rough terrain requires heavy-duty handling and control systems, the Tacoma features an independent double-wishbone front suspension with stabilizer bar and a multi-leaf spring rear suspension.

When adventure requires a trailer, every Tacoma is factory-fitted with a Class IV weight distribution tow hitch, 7-pin wiring harness and Trailer Sway Control technology. Towing capabilities range from 2,900-2,950 kg (6,400-6,500 lb), depending on model.

Tacoma’s athletic styling gives it immediate curb appeal, with a sculpted front bumper, smooth rear deck, integrated tailgate spoiler, and double-walled composite cargo bed. Each trim level is clearly defined through materials and design of details such as the grille, grille surround, wheels, fender flares, and accents. New for 2020, most models feature new grille and wheel designs.

Inside, the Tacoma cabin is spacious and features many standard amenities to make it a comfortable place to spend long days on the road or trail. All Tacoma models sport a long list of standard features, including air conditioning, a multi-information display, power locks with keyless entry, power windows, map lamps, 12V DC accessory power connectors, all-season floor mats and plenty of thoughtful in-cabin storage.

Technology also gets a boost for 2020, as every Tacoma is enhanced with Connected Services by Toyota, a Display Audio system with touchscreen and steering wheel-mounted controls, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, Bluetooth® connectivity and an in-cab GoPro mount.

The Tacoma is also the compact pick-up that delivers full-size peace of mind. Every Tacoma is outfitted with Toyota Safety Sense P – an industry-leading bundle of active safety technologies included as standard equipment on 95 percent of all new vehicles Toyota sells in Canada. Other safety systems include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, and eight airbags – including driver and front passenger knee airbags.
